Alfred W. Butler

83, of Narragansett passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with CLL.  He was the beloved husband of Joanne E. (Agnew) Butler for sixty years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William C. and Margaret (Kane) Butler.  Mr. Butler was a dedicated employee of Narragansett Electric for 41 years and a member of IBUW Local 310.  Alfred was a competitive golfer and member of the Knights of Columbus Cranston Council #1738.  He served as president of their golf league. A communicant of St. Veronica Chapel, Al enjoyed singing in the choir.  Al was an avid follower of all New England sports.  Besides his wife, he leaves four children, Jane Wallace, Lauren Dauray (Brian), Joanne “Josie” Kearns (John) and Bill Butler (Maria); eight grandchildren, Nora and Maeve Wallace, Johanna and Matthew Dauray, John and Brendan Kearns, Drew and Cameron Butler; sister-in-law, Judy Squizzero (Bob), their children, Fran, Bobby, MJ, Paul, and Carole and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Butler (Sandra), daughter Judith, and Daniel Butler (Janet), daughter Trevia-Lee. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude for the continual and compassionate care provided by Dr. Vincent Armenio and his staff over his twenty-three year battle with CLL.

His funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME- SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 with VISITATION from 9-10:30 AM followed by a procession to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Veronica Chapel, 1031 Boston Neck Rd, Narragansett.  A private burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Wakefield.   Live stream available at stthomasmoreri.org.
