88, of Johnston, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in Johnston he was a son of the late Alfonso and Josephine (Nardolillo) LaFazia. Mr. LaFazia was the founder, owner, and president of LaFazia Auto Body of Johnston. He was the co-founder of A&A Realty and LaFazia Motors, both in Johnston. Alfonso was involved in Johnston politics for many years and served on the Johnston Town Committee. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II. Alfonso enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
He is survived by his loving son, Robert A. LaFazia and his wife Louise of Johnston. He was the cherished grandfather of Derek R. LaFazia and his wife Sheri, Jarin T. LaFazia and the great-grandfather of Derek R. LaFazia, Jr. all of Johnston. He was the brother of Elizabeth Tedesco of Johnston, and the late Pasqualina "Bessie" Ricci, Concetta Ferranti, Anthony E. LaFazia and Catherine Vessella.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
