84, of Steamboat Street, died peacefully on Friday, August 27th, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Trudy was raised on Peaks Island in Maine, and although she briefly moved to Portland and California when she first married, she soon returned to Peaks Island to raise her own family, unable to resist the island life she had grown to love.
A true island girl, she relocated to Conanicut Island in 1996, where she remained for the rest of her life.
Trudy lived life to the fullest. Whether reading, cooking, bowling, biking, beaching, playing volleyball, acting, or singing, her presence filled the room. She connected easily with people, providing her with a treasure trove of friends throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by the greatest love of her life, Dick Howland; her parents, George and Alberta Alexander; and her sisters, Constance and Mary, all now reunited in the presence of God.
She is survived by her daughter Constance Cooley of Girdwood, AK; daughter Tammy Fasano and her husband Stephen Fasano of Portsmouth; daughter Holly Polk and her partner Dave Rocheleau of Standish, ME; brother Louis Alexander and his wife Marion Alexander of Scarborough, ME; brother George Alexander and his wife Emily Alexander of Portland, ME; stepson Angelo Howland of Saco, ME; six grandchildren Jacob, Wheeler, Andrew, Allie, Sage, and Zeke; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend her Celebration of Life on Friday, September 17th aboard the Bay View Lady. The boat will depart at 2pm from 170 Commercial Street, Portland, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Trudy’s memory to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
