Albert B. Patalano Jr., 80, formerly of Waterford, CT passed peacefully on March 3, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Janet (Atherton) Patalano. Born and raised in Providence, a son of the late Albert B. and Filomena A. (Vacca) Patalano.
Albert graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1964 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, Albert spent his career with the Department of Defense at the Navy’s Supervisor of Ship Building in Groton before retiring in 2001.
In his free time, he enjoyed working with his hands. There was nothing that he could not fix or build. Always there for those who needed him, Albert had many friends who will miss him. Growing up, his intense love for music was contagious, eliciting memories forever in those who love him.
He was a dedicated family man who was passionate about his family with his love and dedication being boundless. He was actively involved with his grandchildren, always attending their sporting and school events as well as taking them on traveling adventures. There is nothing he would not do for his family or friends. He was always the first there to lend a hand or offer support. Albert loved to travel with his wife Janet. He also loved building and flying model airplanes, fixing and restoring old automobiles and a few times even buying, restoring and selling real estate property. He put his heart into everything he did. His loss will weigh heavy on the hearts of those he touched with his love and friendship.
Besides his wife of fifty-eight years, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa A. Kirby of Suwanee, GA and Lynn C. Degidio(David) of Wrentham, MA; five grandchildren, Samantha J. LaForte (Anthony) of New Braunfels, TX, Jacob C. Smaldone(Marissa) of Bluffton, SC, Rachel A. Degidio and David Degidio of Wrentham, MA and David A. Kirby of North Kingstown as well as two great grandchildren, Arianna LaForteand Augustus Smaldone; a sister, Kathleen A. Robbio (Robert)of East Greenwich; two brothers, Robert Patalano (Marion) of NC and Ronald V. Patalano (Joanne) of Exeter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home and Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston on Wednesday at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St.  Mary’s Church , Cranston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
Visiting hours: Tuesday 4-8 pm.
