ALBERT A. BUONANNO

91, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at the Scandinavian Home in Cranston. Married for 68 years, he was the loving husband of Gloria C. (Marchetti) Buonanno. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Luigia (Marcello) Buonanno. After his graduation from URI in 1941 he became a Captain in the U.S. Army Infantry where he served in Normandy, France in World War II. Albert was awarded a Purple Heart for his valor. He retired as the Chief Business Manager of Social and Rehabilitation Services for the State of RI in 1981.

Besides his beautiful wife, he is survived by five daughters; Carole Ann Vincent and her husband Ronald of North Kingstown, Denise Buonanno of Narragansett, Sharon Vallaro and her husband Vincent, Loraine Vincent and her husband Frederick and Verena Grossi and her husband George, all of Cranston. Albert was the brother of Eva B. Marchetti of Cranston, Anilda M.Gay of Florida and the late Americo, Benedetto, Ida and Aldo Buonanno. He was the proud grandfather of fourteen and great-grandfather of thirteen.

His funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Cranston at 10:00 a.m. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4:00-8:00 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be held at RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 1 State Street, Providence, RI 02908.
