“Al the Baker”
On October 9,2020 the world lost a unique man. Though 86, he seemed much younger. His wife Angela (Bucci) was his “soul mate” for almost 60 years.
Besides his wife Angela, he is survived by his loving daughters, Josephine Barnds-Brown and her husband Warren Brown of Cranston, and Michele Barnds and her husband Robert Conway of Bristol.
He was known as Junior to his mother, the late Mary Gonsalves, and siblings, Gloria Pari, Diana Cendroski and the late Carmella “Ella” Sivo and Robert Barnds. His numerous nieces and nephews will miss their Uncle Al.
His cherished grandchildren, Alexandria Brown, Russell Brown and Jacob Albert Barnds will miss their PaPa.
Al was a man with many friends but the most special were Jimmy, Kevin, Steve and the men from The Club.
To the hundreds who ate his wine, pepper and egg biscuits he was “Al the Baker”. He started baking when he was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He later worked for Tip Top, DePetrillos and Crugnales Bakeries. His favorite though, was his backyard “gazebo” where he baked while listening to his music.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
