Alan Jensen, age 73, a retired automobile appraiser for Amica Mutual Insurance Company and a Vietnam veteran, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24 at the Greenville Skilled Nursing Center in Greenville, RI. surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Francine (Amore) Jensen. They would have celebrated their 44th anniversary this August.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Alderic R Jensen and Doris (Charest) Jensen. He was drafted into the service at the age of 18 and served in the army during the Vietnam War.After an honorable discharge, he attended New England Institute of Technology and graduated as a journeyman electrician. He worked at American Insulated Wire in Cumberland while attending RI College. Later, he took a job at Amica Insurance working the overnight shift as a stationary engineer. While working the overnight shift he was always seen reading various books, always wanting to better himself. He believed that you could acquire anything in this world if you worked hard enough for it. The job posting for an auto appraiser was posted and he applied for it not really knowing much about the position. After being selected for the job, he traveled to Texas for his in-depth training. His work was always his priority and he wanted to be able to provide well for his family. His work ethic meant everything to him.
He was the father of Adam Jensen and wife Shandell of Apollo Beach, Fl., Nicole Jensen and her fiancé, Sean Foshey of Cummings, Ga., Marissa Jensen of East Greenwich , RI , Matthew Jensen and his wife Nikki of Coventry, RI. and the late Alan R. Jensen, Jr.
He was the brother of Robert Jensen and his wife Denise, Linda Bessette and her fiancé John Graham, Jeffrey Jensen, Cheryl Maddalina and her husband Roger, Douglas Jensen and his wife Deb and the late Alderic R Jensen, Jr
He is survived by 4 grandsons. Lorenzo Ferdinandi, age 9, Landon Jensen age 6, Lucas Jensen age 5, and Giulio Ferdinandi age 3 months along with many many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be on Saturday, June 29 at 9:00 am in the Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston RI followed by a burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours ard Friday, June 28 from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimers Association.
He will be greatly missed.
