Agnes (Topalian) Toumasian

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Agnes (Topalian) Toumasian, loving sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at age 98.

Agnes was born in Bridgeport, CT to Kaspar and Ehsig (Eranosian) Topalian, along with her sisters Rosalie (Topalian) Jones of Washington and Marguerite (Topalian) Griego of Providence. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Toumasian, with whom she owned the Near East Market for over 40 years. Together they shared a life of faith much-loved by many nieces and nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, and her broader community.

Agnes served her Church family in many capacities throughout her life, including her role as pilaf virtuoso. She dedicated countless hours in humble, often unseen service to her Church to ensure that others were well-loved and well-fed. Everyone who knew Agnes, young and old, appreciated her kind heart, listening ear, and thoughtful witty advice. She was well-loved and much respected by all who knew her.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 25th at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at North Burial Ground, Providence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Agnes’s name may be made to a church of your choice.
