Adeline P. "Addie" (DeLauro) Morrone

December 24, 1921 — February 15, 2023

Adeline P. "Addie" (DeLauro) Morrone

101, of Westlake, OH, formerly of Johnston, RI passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at St. John Medical Center, Westlake, OH.  She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Zaira (Cappellari) DeLauro.

Born on December 24, 1921 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Addie was of Italian descent.  Her family immigrated to the United States permanently when she was 11 years old.

Addie was a long-time resident of Johnston, Rhode Island.  A proud entrepreneur, she owned and operated her own beauty salon along with her sister.  At the start of her career, Addie worked at a beauty salon in downtown Providence.  She also traveled throughout the country attending conventions and competing in hair shows.  Addie won several trophies throughout her career.

A true social butterfly, Addie was known for her generous spirit and kindness towards others.  She often made house calls to sick and elderly customers so they could still have their hair washed and set when house-ridden.  Even after she retired, Addie still worked out of her home salon for her long-time customers.  She would turn it into a social visit, often including lunch afterwards.

Perhaps Addie's most selfless act, however, was taking in and providing a home to a woman who was considered a ward of the state of Rhode Island, and providing her a home for over 40 years.

In her spare time, Addie was known to bake all kinds of Italian goodies that were enjoyed by friends and family everywhere.  She especially loved to share her baking talents with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Addie was often asked what her secret was to living such a long, full and healthy life.  She believed in always staying busy, not letting things bother her, moving her body often, and keeping in close contact with friends and family.  Addie loved to talk on the phone.  She called her daughter daily, and each night she was known to make her phone calls to friends and family.  Addie also loved music.  She especially enjoyed watching reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show in addition to listening to live performances provided by her assisted living retirement community.

Addie was the beloved wife of the late Peter Morrone.  The two were married for 73 years.

Adeline is survived by her loving daughter, Arlene Abbatomarco and her husband Frank of Grafton, OH; cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Porter and Amy Abbatomarco; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Kaitlyn Porter. She was the sister of Alvera DiDomenico and the late Ida Saccoccio.
